About Us
Choun's Restaurant opened in downtown Wheaton in June 2016. The restaurant is centrally-located at 226 West Front Street, right in the heart of the vital and growing downtown corridor. This new dining establishment offers a fresh and flavorful blend of Thai specialties and American fare with a "Thai twist" to tempt any palate.
The intent of the restaurant is to provide a new and exciting gathering place for Wheaton’s residents to enjoy healthy and freshly-prepared food and drinks, further expanding the already vibrant downtown dining scene. The owner, Chounphit Hatsady, has been a restaurateur in the Wheaton area for many years along with her thriving Market business. She believes that Wheaton has a strong sense of community with interests in eating healthier foods and sampling exciting, new flavors from around the globe. |

Head chef and owner, Chounphit Hatsady, has been a welcome fixture at Wheaton's French Market for many years and has expanded her business to a permanent location in downtown Wheaton. Choun's focus is on freshly-prepared small plates and entrees - all of which are hand-crafted from family recipes using fresh, seasonal and regional ingredients. Choun's Restaurant also offers a Private Room for parties and gatherings up to 80 people. Please speak with a manager before planning your next party - we'd love to host your next social gathering, work luncheon, special occasion or large meeting. We'll work with you to customize a menu and help you choose from

Our History

Along with her husband and local businessman, Lee Jackels, Choun enjoys traveling between Wheaton and her second home in Thailand where she grew up. Over the course of her life, Choun has gathered a wealth of knowledge and skill in preparing authentic Thai cuisine from family recipes and continues to develop new American-styled dishes, some with a Thai twist, to introduce her customers to new flavors and cultural concepts. She also takes great care to ensure her ingredients are locally- or regionally-sourced and plans to incorporate seasonal vegetables and fruits into her specials menu. Choun’s Restaurant hopes to become an established fixture in Wheaton’s growing, dynamic social scene and provide a friendly gathering place and culturally-unique dining experience for its patrons.
